“I wasn't actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
It smells like chocolate,
curiosity, and spring hungry
for its first daffodil.
Does a valentine bleed as sweet
when infatuation isn’t asking for love?
There’s nothing right or wrong
about wishing to know the spirit
that lies beneath bright wrapping.
Seeking doesn’t always find an answer.
The question may be all a moment needs.
