Cosmic Butterfly

I am bound by flightless wings
and a body unable to feel
the moon beneath my feet.

Child of gravity, weighted earthling,
I must wear a suit of science to walk
the lighthouse of dreams.

Butterfly teach me the ways of your cocoon,
to embrace a metamorphosis in a womb
that nurtures spirit in a body chasing death.

Weightless in a floating dreamscape
I am stardust searching for origins,
flesh and bone praying I find home.

Every stanza stands strong by itself! I especially love " I am bound by flightless wings and a body unable to feel the moon beneath my feet" and "I am stardust searching for origins, flesh and bone praying I find home." Oh Susie this is utterly beautiful from head to toe! I love the way you have captured the endless searching of man and how the butterfly is a wonderful metaphor for what man longs to have and has not. I love love love this!!!

I love the idea of the astronaut being encased in a cocoon. One that allows him to be more than gravity bound (the way a cocoon seems to hover above the earth suspended from a branch). Always striving to see further, go farther, and be more than we are.

A lighthouse of dreams - that is a wonderful image for me. I guess we all long to fly we just need a way.

I really like this Susie. We humans, always searching for the reason why — flutter-bees are simply free to fly.

Wonderful as always, Susie, and both melancholy and delicate.
