Where No Arrows

Circus, Budapest, 19 May 1920 Andre Kersetz

Strange attracts ….
A tease of the bizarre draws out
darkness in a sin tingle of shouldn’t,
but a wink will save an hour’s confession.

Shoes boot laced to the straight and narrow
yearn for a toe touch in grass where no arrows.

Shroud dancing in sunlight is welcoming death
before a rose even knows there's a coffin.

Hey Susie - I love the "no arrows" as it really does have a wonderful double meaning--the whole poem tells a very compact story in an elegant and foreboding manner. Thanks! So nice to read you again. k.

That last lines really wraps it up... how would a rose grow up knowing about the coffin? That one in itself is a thought that could be a whole poem....

Brilliant work

Pretty deep in here, Susie. Surface reading it is very enjoyable. I like the line, "but a wink will save an hour’s confession". That seems to work when there's a very good personal relationship. At first I thought of the confession booth. Might work there also. Where there's no arrows must be a safe place to be. Sticks and stones?

Excellent Susie and deep it is.
The close is perfect. (I wish I had the creativity to write like that - but I don't.)
