The Scissoring of Malice

The glory of her hair
falls in a rippled sacrifice
to the scissoring of malice.

Jealousy grinds its quarrel
into petty glass to wound
the spirit until it bleeds sorrow.

A mirror reflects but doesn’t own
golden locks echoed in its silver.

To wish is hope…To believe is trust…
beauty grows in grace with every note
sung from an insolent choir.

Beauty do what it like, like it or not, right? ;-)

I can really feel this, with the sacrifice of hair... so many reasons for it, man of them painful... The malice can be manifold

It is a pity it is not accorded a rightful place and admired by the many! Perhaps out of envy!

Wow, Susie! That's some title! I love this poem and its scissoring malice. I have often envied beautiful hair but this poem takes envy through jealousy and into spitefulness in the lines:
'Jealousy grinds its quarrel
into petty glass to wound
the spirit until it bleeds sorrow'.

Her hair is certainly something to be jealous about. There's an ephemeral feel to your poem. Good one.

breath-taking! Each carefully composed word, line, break reads like a scissor clip, severe, biting, sharp - but there is an unearthly, almost otherworldly beauty that lifts this beyond the pale of the initial words. This is a transformational experience.

I came up with the idea of sacrifice too. Love your imagery and language throughout, Susie.
'Scissoring of malice' - what a brilliant image that conjures up!

Oh, that insolent choir. At first I read the title "The Scissoring of Alice" and honestly it works, too. :)
