I Am a Key

I am a key searching
for an opening, a door
that leads out of the rabbit hole.

Framed portals line my prison.
I’ve been pressed into a thousand excuses,
peeled confessions from my metal,
but every door asks forgiveness
and I shrink with every why.

How tall is a heart?
How rusty is a lie?

I am the key to every door,
yet I still search for the answer to freedom.

Wonderful metaphor... but what is a key without a door?

How rusty is a lie? Wow...excellent question. The metaphor is excellent. And you want a door leading out of the rabbit hole. Very telling. I never did like the story of Alice. I live in a poem and climb trees but, I want a life based in reality. I liked this poem a lot.

That fruitless search for a key when the answer is to kick the door down! Often when looking for way (out) we ignore the obvious.

This is a very profound metaphor, and yes indeed there are portals around but not every door is the way out.

much love...

However much one sees and supports Man's concern over basic issues yet one is stifled and feels letdown by the indecision and inactivity of the powers that be!

To be the key is a very strong trait and only a few brave ones can carry such responsibility.

So strange, to be the beginning (and the final cry) of everything, and still be treated as less... How strange (and infuriating), indeed.
