Prison Sparkle

A spider spins its silk annoyance
in the corner of my kitchen window.
I don't care about its beauty
or how a prison sparkles
when illuminated by the sun.
It's a predator's parlor
of eight legs and no escape.

I do think the flies would tend to agree with you!

Even from gilded cages there is no escape... It reminds me of a story I heard on a podcast about Hedi Lamarr's first marriage with a weapon's mogul.
It would be more than welcome to my flies and mosquitos!

But I do love ' silk annoyance' and 'predator's parlour'.

I love this, "silk annoyance" and "predator's parlor", the descriptive words I mean and not necessarily the critter :-)

I love the alliteration of "predator's parlor". I'm guessing the housefly is not particularly enamored of that gilded cage either. This was so delightfully crafted.

Yikes! "Predator's parlor" is just awesome.

What a metaphor as well! Not all is lovely beneath beautiful "masks" and fancy exteriors.

A clever trap indeed. Not all that sparkles is gold, eh? Well done.

Hah, I read this as the spider being all annoyed while spinning. So annoying!

Maybe it's my mood today, but "prison sparkles" really touches me. Says a lot.

Oh heck! I read your poem wrong and now I can't edit it. I am so sorry! Please delete the other comment as I can't see it. I have misread before and it will happen again. Lol! It was lovely Susie! Hugs! Bekkie

I agree, though there is an old mountain remedy that says putting spider webs on a wound helps it stop bleeding. I've never tried it though : )
