Summer Embroidery

Summer embroidered
sunflowers in the grass,
heat stitched in yellow and green.

Their bowed heads brought
thoughts of prayer-----

I wonder if God remembers
the sound of my voice?

What a wonderfully self-contained poem. You ask a big question here, which seem to arise naturally from a contemplation of nature.

The needlework metaphors are so cheery, leading into ecclesiastical painting and hence into prayer.
So much in so few words.

They say that no child forgets its mother's voice. I expect the reverse is true, too.

Lovely and contemplative. You say much in very few words.

Wow! I'm not religious, but the imagery these words captured... Beautiful! Made my racing mind stop for a second!

I love what Mama Zen said-yes, it drips with mood and the wonder of the universe's tidal pool. He remembers-your fingerprints are outlined with petals. Magic blooms when you write~

Beautiful images, and your final couplet is very thought-provoking!

Nice progression, Susie. Next stop is to test the waters with a prayer.

I like those sunflowers and grass, yellow and green. We drove to Washington on the Brazos today (top down, picnic of cold pizza and 7Up) and saw many fields of yellow and green. Blue and orange too. These were standing tall, too proud to pray.

Such a huge pondering question for so dainty a poem. But I truly believe the answer is a simple "yes" Embroidered is such a lovely visual!

I think if you have to ask...I love the way this gently makes its point, Susie, of gratitude, of appreciation, and of the wry onlooker as well.
