Bear Claw Roots

             Uprising, by Toril Fisher

In the turquoise pre-dawn
trees dig their bear claw roots
into the regenerative soil
of shrinking Eden.

They are defiant sentries
guarding their woodland womb,
gnarled limbs raised to proclaim
they will not surrender
this plot of earth to the
steel toothed hounds of greedy men.

Oh, let it be so! This poem of steely grit is wonderful! Let's hope she has more fight in her than many scientists have predicted….

Nice Susie, about a worrisome topic. I like the terms, "shrinking Eden," and " steel toothed hounds." They are the 'root' of the situation here.

The term 'shrinking Eden' really says it all. I fear it will fall to man's greed before the end of the century.

Hope those bear claw roots will always stay strong against the steel toothed hounds!
