Butterfly Infestation

Image provide by The Mag 151

I had the wool
pulled over my eyes.

It was bright pink nonsense
of I was your only love.

I ignored the signs of untruth
to dance in the starlight of denial.

Funny what the mind will edit
when butterflies infest common sense.

LOL! I don't know - only a mother could love one of those!

First the image of "bright pink nonsense" seemed to cavort with a pink elephant connection, and then the idea of butterflies infesting...somehow I think of something once so beautiful has a darker, secret venom. Quite a picturesque drama for me in your delightful poem!

Now, is that brilliant or what? I love every phrase in every line.
And I shall be ignoring the signs of untruth whenever I'm aware of them forever now :-)

When I saw this picture, I wondered what on earth a poet would do with it. Butterfly Infestation lets me know.

I really liked this one, Susie. A LOT.

=)
you describe so perfectly how we participate in the deceit when we ignore what's right in front of us because we WANT to believe.

LOVE "when butterflies infest common sense"

love this! :-)
Susie, the image is so fitting... coated in Pepto Bismol, yet still able to cradle a drink to help the denial! A sad tale, to be sure, that unwillingness to face facts. And yet, isn't that part of the process? Great write! Amy
