Weighing Wishes

“In a world of apples and kisses and shoes;
  he wasted his wishes on wishing.”
  —Shei Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends

The treachery of a wish is it rarely
stands alone…It multiplies until
you’re divided.

There is comfort in asking, but
danger in insistence…What you want
too often is not what you need.

Daydreaming brings its euphoria
while reality waits with its knife.

Think before you wish, and say
thank you if it is granted.
