“Killing Me Softly” – Written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox
If I fall, no I already fell, the bed I’ve made
is a stone of my own design.
I am on your guitar strings,
lyrics that sing of my mistakes,
the emptiness of a valley of failures.
The wild in me wants to run,
a child with a bloody knee
with eyes on the finish line.
Oh, give me courage to rise,
not pick up my heavy suitcase pain,
and camp on the edge of disappointment.
I want to be blue eye sky,
a dreamer who keeps looking up
when all she feels is ground.
There are so many choices to make.
Don’t let me be my own sad song.
