Spun Sugar Song of Nests

The weight of days has turned

her auburn hair to white mist.

She walks sunrise with her pine needle breasts

glistening with night stars still clinging to dreams.

A defiant forest drops its seeds from limbs scarred

by axes hungry for concrete on sacred ground

begging for resurrection.

Hope, fragile as spun sugar, sings its song of nests

on wings brushing its notes across sky angry

with yesterday’s questions.

Artemis stares at the horizon of nothing is as it seems

and raises her bow to defend this moment in time

from greed’s assault on trust Phoenix Earth can rise

from the arrogant fists of men.

She does look like spun sugar, and I love she walks sunrise with her pine needle breasts. Sighs from me.

"begging for resurrection" - indeed.

Hope, so sweet and delicate, looks almost defenseless when confronting an angry sky. But like the Phoenix shows time after time, things are rarely what the seem. Hope is so good at lifting us from the ashes.

Susie, to me this is a poem that makes me think things and places I have not ben for a while.
The weight of days tends to get a person down. I am glad she still holds on to those Clinging dreams. A hard life here that so many have.

A second go-around now for the Pantry. I think that Artemis will be able to do our Earth some good again very soon.
