Night Owl

Artistic Photography Dreamlike Portrait Photography by Damien Casals

Night sings its song of wings

along my skin until I slip into

the moon’s lullaby to fly

the star path of visions.

The chant of trees guides

me to Jupiter’s oak where

Athena braids my hair

with sonnets of falling stars.

Etched by secrets I roam

ebony’s curtain where beginnings

and endings merge until the weight

of days slips from my flesh

into the ether of imagination.

I think this is something that I'd like to read just before sleeping, a poem that leads one into a more gentle night.

You paint a compelling image here...and love the last 2 lines (the weight of day falling away....sublime!)

Good Imagination, Susie. Yes imagination is from the ether somewhere. My thinking lines where, "I roam ebony’s curtain where beginnings and endings merge" got stuck, I had visions for the other part, this one held out from me. Fourth dimension?

This picture also made me think of Athena and her owl, of what that bond might actually be like. This is mysterious but also emotionally evocative and alive, especially the sonnets of falling stars, and the way they weave a comfort into a mad world that allows us to slip into another and calmer place at the finish. Loved it Susie.
