The Woe of Full Bloom

In the pink dust of admiration

a rose enjoys a moment of full bloom

while death waits to brown its petals

and erase love notes tucked into

the eye of summer.

Beautiful, sweet and melancholy all at once, Susie. A perfect short poem.

I agree about the love notes line! I like to think they don't die, however, but transition into still-fragrant dried petals in a lovely bowl of potpourri!

Shay said it best ... short poems that pack a punch like this does are a breath of pure fresh air!

The beauty of a rose is its short life. A hurt that will pass off fast and easy until the next bloom! But one can still preserve its brown beauty of wilted remains though!

This is obviously one of those instances where less is more. Sad with the weight of change that can't be run from.

Half the pieasure of flowers is in their giving to another. The memory of that gift lasts way longer than the flowers physically.
Nice thoughts from your writing.

p.s. Susie, you can delete this, one idea you gave me was try to fix the problem
Google found this for me:
"Read this tip for cut flowers

Did you know? Adding Clorox® Regular Bleach2 to flower vase water keeps flowers healthy and last longer!

When microorganisms multiply in plain vase water, they block the flower stem and make it hard for the stem to absorb water for nutrients — causing wilt and odors! Adding Clorox® Regular Bleach2 kills these microorganisms to ensure that your flower bloom lasts."
