Growing Wings to Swim

February’s irony delivered
me beneath the sign of Pisces,
but neglected to teach me
to trust water.

With open heart and tear drop eyes
I clung to the edge of the moon
and questioned a Zodiac’s prank
of delivering a fish without fins.

In the wilderness of stars answers
abandoned me on the banks of silence.
An orphan with stardust veins,
I formed butterfly wings from fear
to grow strong enough to swim an ocean.

Susie, you are on fire this month! Wow! Loved this, especially your closing stanza. Wowzers!
Interesting. I wonder if you have an Air moon or ascendant. Lovely resolution!

We can do a lot out of fear. Nice poem, I liked
"With open heart and tear drop eyes I clung ..."

I love that your fish out of water formed butterfly wings, Susie, the phrase ‘orphan with stardust veins’, and the play on butterfly stroke ‘strong enough to swim an ocean’. February is an ironic month.

You are definitely a swimmer of the skies! And flying fish had transformed fins to wings!

LOL, I don't always feel like my sign too (Taurus) in that I feel very Air-y and Fire-y.
