Winter Weather

The frostbite from his lips
was only a word away from scarring.

She wrapped her arms
around his neck hoping
she had enough heart
to melt the winter between them.

Grabbing at snowflakes she sang
her revision of their favorite
Christmas song quietly in his ear,

“Oh the weather inside is frightful,
but a fire would be so delightful,
and if this is the end I’ll go.
Let me know…Let me know…Let me know…”

Pow! What an opening! Dead brilliant and I really adore how you've taken an old classic and twisted it on its ear - sideways, - sort of a teasing dance - an in your face, I'm not going to take this or you lying down horizontally - THIS was so unexpected! A flash of crystal brilliance!

Sometimes no amount of love can warm another's cold heart. Stunning write.

Chilling lines, lines, Susie:
'The frostbite from his lips
was only a word away from scarring'
and
'...hoping
she had enough heart
to melt the winter between them'.

Terribly cold it was. I do hope her warmness can thaw things, he seems the holdout here.
So we'll written, Suzie, I was living it.

Very clever, the way you/she modified the song. And an altogether engaging read.
