Jealous October

October breathes
its final sigh through
the bright colored brittling
of frosted sunlight.

Soon the goblin march
of tricksters will bleed
candy dishes until bedtime
dreams the midnight hour.

October stretches her limbs
into the wind and jealously
drops her jeweled leaves
so November will be forced
to arrive in a dress of faded brown.

November will feel like the ugly sister :) Beautifully done!
October is the show stopper. Poor November. December sparkles again with glitter snow. I like fanfare and images here.

I never thought of it, but this is so accurate! I can only hope that November likes darkened browns and grays.
lovely October poem. I love this line, " October breathes
its final sigh through
the bright colored brittling
of frosted sunlight."

Lovely October poem. But down our way, November is the show stopper. The leaves need cool weather to turn and it is just now getting cool during the day and cooler at night. I love November!
A beautiful welcome to November ad a soulful adieu to October, loved it!

Poor November... the most despised of all months... the brown gown, and not a thought of snow... love the poem

October will not spite here yet as leaves hold strong, colouring the world with their glory. No doubt November will soon cast this glory aside as she huffs and puffs and leaves trees barren awaiting the glistening of snow...
Lovely poem!

Whether it be months, seasons or vain humans we all want to appear beautiful so that others see us and love our company.

I love this autumn poem! This year I'm still waiting for frost. We've had some drifting mist from the river in the mornings but otherwise nothing to make things magical. I have high hopes for November, though! I especially enjoyed the lines:
'October stretches her limbs
into the wind and jealously
drops her jeweled leaves
so November will be forced
to arrive in a dress of faded brown'.

This is a gorgeous poem, Susie. The first dawn of November does feel different, does feel like this. xoxo

Out of sight! This was superb! You painted a masterpiece in very few words. I felt sullen November in this.
