Twilight

Painting by Mi Young Lee

Summer twilight dances
with shadow cloaked roses
to a sand song playing
on the southern breeze.

Void of sunlit demands
dreams wander
among blind windows
in search of hooded eyelids
to explore.

With a mother’s tenderness
night hours stroke
a purring clock
in the calm before alarm.

Silently inspiration collects images
to feed poetry when first light
rises hungry for words.

I can see the roses and windows in the painting, Susie! I love the lines:
'dreams wander
...
in search of hooded eyelids
to explore'
and
'night hours stroke
a purring clock
in the calm before alarm'.
I'm intrigued by the different poems that emerge from images and can't wait to see what everyone else sees in Mi Young Lee's beautiful painting.
It speaks to you, and you to it, beautifully.

Oh this is absolutely gorgeous penned, Susie!❤️Especially love the opening; "Summer twilight dances with shadow cloaked roses to a sand song playing on the southern breeze."❤️
I like the succession of events in twilight, night and day (first light).. the description in the third stanza is what I liked the most :)

A lovely poem, a lovely piece--so nice that you own it--you have enough inspiration for many days to come in yourself and everywhere you look.

Very true Susie! Silently, yes! One gets inspired and words come tumbling out to astound with lots of brilliance!

Your "quiet inspiration" rang a bell here. Before I started writing verse I would write a blog entry nearly every day. I often thought it would be good to write down an inspiration from either dreams (not many here) or thoughts while I lay awake in the middle of the night. I never did. I also carried a small note book during he day for writing possible blogging topics. Most went unused.
I enjoyed reading this, Susie. I was so afraid that something would go wrong soon, it never did.

To feed the hungry poet -- the art work and your words are a feast for the eyes and ears.
