Winter Haiku

winter dances on
the tulips sleeping in sod
spring peeks through the ice

~ O ~

wrapped in summer dreams
roses escape winter’s chill
by a breath of thorns

~ O ~

frozen ivy drapes
a weeping garden angel
spring captures her tears

I generally have as much use for haiku as I do chill blains, but this is how it is supposed to be done.

So beautiful Susie… this morning I have been listening to birds, thinking they are like angels, calling spring forth as the flutter from icy branch to icy branch.

I, for one, adore the simplicity of this format. These are beautiful! Stand-alone or together, these are most enjoyable. Nice work!

that eternal hope... gah, it's -11 here now and there's a temptation to no longer believe in flowers.
It's happening here in our part of Italy- such a lovely time of year with the hope of fresh starts.

By "breath or thorn" indeed. Love the imagery and the feeling of daring those words evoke.
