A Taste Of Crow


The bite of revelation left a foul taste
on once bragging, resolute lips.
Error served ego a portion of crow
when it was evident certainty’s tongue
had the arrogance to believe feathers
only came to another’s plate.

For those who might not know the expression “eating crow” : Eating crow is an American colloquial idiom, meaning humiliation by admitting wrongness or having been proven wrong after taking a strong position.

Most time the eating crow is an embarrassing experience and it brings a person down a notch.

This poem is very thought provoking. I don't quite know what to say about it. Definitely entertaining to the brain, and can't quite put a finger on an answer to it. Very interesting.

Something about the phrase "eating crow" so eloquently describes what it means to eat one's own shadow rather than projecting wrong onto others. Finely done.
