Dear Poets...My Poets

I am drawn to your words
like a moth devouring light.
When the world tears another
layer from shell I inhabit,
your words fill the scar and speak
another day into my flesh.

Dear poets…my poets…
Yes, I claim you as my own.
You speak the unspeakable,
take my pain, and leave me whole.

Your words speak for so many of us, Susie. I find your expression of gratitude very moving.

A great deal of sincere emotion, real experience in this, Susie--people not involved in the arts think of poetry as something external, perhaps even superficial, but those of us who live for it feel it in exactly this way.

How words can close the gape that opens in the chest.. those words of poets that make us whole.. I love this.

Yes, this is so true. I wish I could have discovered poetry years before I did.

I want to dance with your words. Then I want to hear them sing as their healing medicine to all.

Dear poets, my poets ~ reading those words was emotional for me. It is nice to stop and reflect on how our lives are impacted by each other ...

I like the writing, Susie. I can't pick out exactly what, where, or for sure how you made it work. The tone is melancholy, very down and gloomy (to me), but the words you used look on their face to be gay and cheerful, very friendly.

Like the writer is having a bad day but someone pulled his chain and these words of welcome and thanks spew out.

Beautifully written and wonderful to read!
Susie, I claim you right back! It's so true, our community has so much to offer. Stories of pain, of pleasure, of triumph, of darkness. I believe we all live as extensions of each other's worlds! Love, Amy

…and speak another day

that is lovely. It is amazing how words we share and read can lift one up - make such a difference! Especially poetry - it makes one think a bit more slowly, seek the depth of what is said - and feel it.

oh captain my captain ~
Beautifully said. Fortunate we are to be nurtured, challenged, spoken for when words elude us. Thanks for sharing this.
