Only So Many Minutes

Tardiness made a table for two
a desert island where alone
wore her best heels.

There are only so many
minutes in faith...

A glassy eyed clock ticks
to the end of her rope.

Oops, Susie, tables for two are not meant for one to be alone there. This read very well, I enjoyed it and can feel for her.
For some reason this did remind me of a friend we met at the Luby's tonight on the way out.

Sunday she had gotten ready for church and was surprised at all the activity as she drove along that morning, usually very quiet on Sundays. When she drove by the Chick-fil-A it was open. She clicked her iPhone and looked at the clock. It was only Saturday.
Perhaps your hero is on the wrong day? :)

After the summer I bet they needed practice walking again.
You are making us all write this story for you.

Each sentence-stanza perfectly conveys the nuances of your theme: no one wants to be left alone.
