Ghosts In The Mandolin

I strummed the ghosts
in the mandolin strings
until I felt them dancing
through my fingers.

You were there in the song
forgiving me for goodbye
and that was enough to wash
the tear stains from a July night.

Strumming the ghosts! I wonder if previous owners also leave their signatures there? I find this a very hopeful, loving piece.

oh, this is seemingly so simple that i thought it would say "saying goodbye" but no! it's "forgiving me for goodbye." that something entirely different... love it.

WOW! A spectacular write, Susie. I can hear the mandolin, and I feel the tears drying up. Beautifully expressed.

I love the perspective of ghostly mandolin & that ending, forgiving me for goodbye, washing tear strains ~
