Dressed In Jealousy

Vain flower, is it not enough to possess
a single flower on your stem?
You have robbed the night of stars
to bolster your vanity.

I shrink in this pale flesh I wear
while you fill the room with beauty.

Jealousy is an ill-fitting suit,
but I am trapped in it wishing
it was I who courted such admiration.

Some flowers do have beauty in abundance! I like your angle on this prompt, the voice of envy contemplating the show-off flower.

I love the idea of it robbing the night of stars, in some cases more is better and it would appear so in this case. :0)

Wow. Very vivid - the images as well as the feeling.

They are unashamedly beautiful, but have the right to preen, as they are also so temporary. Good stuff, Susie.

Flowers can be just that,outshining
others in their presence. One has to give way with a tinge of envy! Nicely Susie!

Difficult indeed to stand next to such perfection. You caught the moment perfectly. I'm jealous.

Yes, what a hog that flower is! I completely understand the envy. I love "jealousy is an ill-fitting suit," too.

Ha ha - no wall flower is she! She galavants her buxom charms, but alas, I guess she must as she will soon be shorn of them . Jealousy here is so FUN!
