Caffeine Crystal Ball @tspoetry #TSCoffeeCup

Photograph: Jima

I peer into my cracked
caffeine crystal ball
to watch my sleepless night
drown in creamed swirls.

In the coffee depths
I see the same reruns
that greeted me yesterday,
procrastination and excuses.

With a gulp I swallow my future
wondering if a lit candle
and a prayer would cleanse me
of my self-induced misfortune.

This is so good... loved that last line. And you tempted me to have a cup of coffee too.... :-)

Excellent words, and great use of a coffee cup.

there's nothing worse than knowing you're your own worst enemy, but at least you know you can save yourself through your own choices. great poem

I can't decide whether that mug has random dribbles, or whether it's the creation of a very clever artist - like the poem! :) ♥

Not typically a coffee drinker, I have begun to have a cup or two each morning. For me, a cup of milky tea offers that ritual you so beautifully illustrate with your poem. I enjoyed this, Susie.

Action might get you further, girl. Loved the poem, though!

Such a striking image. I love this, even though I try not to drink coffee at night!

I nodded in recognition as I read this. "self-induced misfortune" indeed.

Love the "caffeine crystal ball" - mine shows me the very same thing! We need Staff - that would help, wouldnt it?

I enjoyed your poem, Susie; and perhaps caffeine does not help the sleepless nights. Ha. But on a serious note, I know what you are saying about the same reruns. I have the same problem sometime. How to break the pattern.......

A very fun write, I loved reading it, Susie.

My coffee cup has a partner, the computer mouse. Between the two I am helped greatly in my procrastination efforts.
..
BTW, Mrs. Jim is getting our bedtime ice cream snack ready, I had better rescue the rest of the coffee before she throws it out.

oooh susie, i really like this poem but i must confess that i thought the first line was "i peed into my cracked caffeine crystal ball" which isn't SO crazy what with "creamed" in the last line but maybe i am crazy but STILL. i am giggling. which was not your purpose. =)
