behold the wild stag
in hoofed drumbeats of summer
antlered majesty

edededede

man and beast sharing
the same space on planet earth
nature must survive

edededede

spirit of the deer
teach humanity kindness
break our stony hearts

I like that antlered majesty ~

My hope is that we will learn to be more humane and kind to the animals who share our planet ~

I have (what my grandchildren describe as totally weird) a connection to deer. There are so many in our small city, it's not unusual to see them often. I just saw one today, stopped and photographed him. No fear whatsoever. I love your poem.

Lovely poem! I watched 8 deer slowly amble through my yard this morning. (We are in the country and our have about 6 acres of woods that make an island in the middle of 100's of acres of corn fields--the woods is a magnet for deer.)

As beautiful and gentle as the deer... Delightful.

Such a beautiful sight. I can never understand why it compels some people to reach for their rifles. Harmony between man and nature is the only way.

I love that, such simple words which evoke such truth. Emma visiting from real toads

A dear was napping in my back yard the other day, the sun softly warm upon it. I found myself holding my breath. So gentle - and as Kerry said, some thing "Where is my gun"... ?
