A knight on a tin horse,
discount hopes
that didn’t have the change
to pay for anything
more elaborate.
She wanted love,
the American dream
of a house with a mortgage,
car payments and
credit card debt.
Her soul had scars
from fairytales gone sour.
She didn’t want any more
rose painted disillusionment.
Her practical heart
wanted someone
who liked to watch sunsets
from a tailgate, dancing
to the Rolling Stones,
and spending five bucks
on Wednesday night lottery tickets.
She has dreams and some
might think they are more
clearance rack than upscale,
but she no longer cared
for the two cents others
were always ready to give her.
was a guy on a tin horse
waiting to ride in and
love her and believe in
her dime store dreams.

Wonderful imagery...I thought of your daughter when I read this.
I know the ordinary means more, when one is struggling. I know a bit of the struggle! I hope things are on the upswing for her, for you, your family~! (((hugs)))
