Between Here and There

I should burn
this bridge
between
here and there.

It has me
wanting to
go back
when I
should be
moving on.

I walk
dragging
my toes
over planks
of what could
have been
instead of
stepping on
what is gone.

Yes, I need
a match
to burn
this bridge
that has me
wanting to
go back
when I should
be moving on.

This says it all. Convincingly and succinctly.

It's hard to not look back, and they say never burn your bridges....though I think it's a necessary thing sometimes....helps you to move on...thoughtful write to the prompt, Susie :)

I can relate to your post...in my mind, I am sometimes between here and there.

If you wrote this on the go, you are awesome :-)

It can be so hard to move on, though... enjoyed this, Susie.

I love the repetition in this, and the way you wind the words into themselves, filling out the resolve that you wish to make reality.

oh, yes, some bridges are better destroyed than to be left in case we are tempted to cross back over them. I have had a few relationships like that.

I like this poem very much. I think that many of us have been in just this place that you describe so beautifully. I know I have.
