another stomach craves food
a mother must choose

tears no longer fall
the time of crying long past
bones wait for their death

we step over bones
on the way to our excess
eyes blind to starving

Oh, how does a mother make a choice on which child to feed? That is so heart wrenching! We are so fortunate that we do not have to make that choice ever. You have painted the prompt very well with your haiku.
