The Haiku Challenge Day #10 ~ Innocent Promise

innocent promise
not knowing what life would bring
but trusting in us

nineteen is so young
to commit until death parts
our dreams starry eyed

though growing was hard
we clung to I do
tears were dried by smiles

forty one years have passed
our eyes see wonder not age
gray does not matter

a promise still kept
love has grown not diminished
our hearts remain one

The commitment and promises made at the beginning of a new life together - does not give the description of the long road ahead ... staying together working it through together is the key!! Communication and experiences (whether up or down) contribute to the strength of the bond!!
This series of haiku leaves me in awe. Great ones.
