Death of Prejudice

The obituary of prejudice
written across pale skin,
a foul opinion slain
by enlightenment.
Body and mind free
from the bondage
of generational conceit
that one skin color
possesses superiority.
Peace flows through
souls now joined
and nirvana rises
from the broken
chains of hate.

smiles...it is a beautiful thing for those chains to be broken...if only they would stay and not just change targets....

Oh, Susie, this is precisely the message I wanted to write, but I couldn't find the words today. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you Brian, Kay, and Natalie. I can remember the day my school was desegregated..I was in the third grade. I didn't understand what it was all about. I just knew I had a whole new set of friends.

This is a fine poem Susie - I wish its truth was universally acknowledged.

well placed points here...

"slain by enlightenment"
"generational conceit"

we have witnessed the joining of hands...only through acceptance will it remain

Peace

When your heart is loving and kind, the packaging does not matter. There is prejudice here in Canada, but never like it was in the U.S. I can only imagine the suffering. Thank you for sharing this, Susie.
