My Land of Oz

I rule a concrete kingdom
with steel spines
and mirrored eyes.
This is my land of oz
where my imposing
likeness is the curtain
I hide behind.
My subjects who bow
are caught up in the fantasy
of who I am and ignore
my declarations are
read from a script.

I like the 'land of oz' inclusion, and the last phrase about the script - nice tie-in with theatreland!

Being a poetry lover, I rate this very highly.
It is a powerful image, you have done it justice.

This amused me because of the parallels the ending shares with reality. We often turn the blind eye regarding political leaders we have opted in.

Imposing likeness hidden upon is so very strong and relatable, Susie. I really enjoyed this one.

You nailed the cold and alienated quality of this authoritarian picture very well, Susie. Good stuff.

I love it, Susie! So true that people forget they are merely actors with rmembered lines. Well done!
