I climb imagination’s limbs
to where fantasy begins,
somewhere over the rainbow.
There are witches on brooms,
fairies sitting on mushrooms,
and spiders that talk.
I see a fairy princess,
watch a puppet’s nose grow inches,
speak wishes upon a star.
A beanstalk grows tall,
Alice shrinks so small,
a dish runs away with a spoon.
I hear four and twenty blackbirds sing,
discover who is lord of the ring,
hope jack can jump over the candlestick.
A kiss turns a toad into a prince.
voices sing a song of sixpence,
the monkey chased the weasel.
With a book in my hands
I can travel to far lands
while never leaving my tree top perch.
I was honored and humbled to receive Bluebell books tribute author for week 13, Wednesday November 9, 2011, and recipient of the Thursday Writer's Block Award.
