These are the
last moments
before goodbye.
My hand clutches
the air, trying
to pull time backwards.
I spent too much time
ignoring tomorrow
would come.
Let me look into your eyes,
remember how love
looked beyond my failures.
My lips seek yours
to taste the delicacy
of restrained passion.
Put your arms around me,
enfold me with your strength,
leave your perfume on my skin.
I feel your heart next to mine,
taking each beat into my soul
to give me life when you are gone.
I hear the clock ticking it is time.
The sun has grown dimmer.
Lonely has already arrived.
Tears pour down my face.
Tomorrow has crossed the threshold.
This is the last moment before goodbye.

I hate goodbyes...and I mean it! :(
But a goodbye is needed in order for friends to see each other again...
Its so beautiful... and I could relate to it all... specially with you lines...
'My lips seek yours
to taste the delicacy
of restrained passion.'
Some times we do not realise how close we are to the bliss, but we keep trying to loose ourselves in openings.... meeting again and again but not taking it forward to the end that is ... the bliss... being forever together in thoughts, mind and sense...
The sense of restraint is always felt when the lips tremble...
You will find one haiku at my blog in this weeks post...
Thanks for sharing at Poetry Picnic WK 7… I look forward to reading more from you in our next week theme “Friends, relationships and everyone around”…

Susie. I like the sense of urgency throughout the poem, especially in the second last stanza
"I hear the clock ticking it is time.
The sun has grown dimmer.
Lonely has already arrived."

Love lost - desertion, death, treachery. It matters not. It is lost.
