The Prayer in Your Kiss

I heard the prayer
in your kiss.
It’s petition
resting upon
my lips.
“Please may
 she love me.”

Can’t you feel
my heartbeat’s
 erratic beating
drumming against
your chest?
See the glow
on my skin;
the stars dancing
in my eyes?

Let this kiss
release you
from your doubt.
I will break the silence
of your uncertainty,
and speak the words
you wish to hear.
I love you.
