I Tried To Be Quiet

I tried to be quiet
dressed in a sweater
knitted in silence,
but it didn’t fit.
I felt like I was
dressed for my
own funeral,
lain joyless in
a coffin made
from planks
of conventional.
I am noise and life,
giggles and spontaneity.
I don’t want to be
anyone else.
I just want to be me.
