I can not see if I don’t look
I can not hear if I don’t listen
I can not feel if I don’t touch

Life lived in a world of I can not
Is life lived without risking the heart
The very thing that makes one say I can

A negative existence damages the soul
Breaking the spirit into bitter pieces
Where love is unable to navigate the fragments

Please hear hope’s message
That you are not sentenced to live forever
In the dark continuation of I can not

Begin taking tiny steps of saying I can
To light a candle to lead you out of despair
