Sleep where are you?
My thoughts will not stop
Their nocturnal wandering
Lyrics and melodies dance
With my imagination
As faces framed with
Misty recognition
Parade across my closed eyelids
Poems with rhyme and prose
Fill my head in bits and pieces
Taking me from one moment
Speaking of love to the next despair
I toss and turn trying to find
Comfort in a bed that feels
As if it has turned to stone
I implore my mind
To stop its migratory journey
To unconnected destinations
That I might find relief
With body tired and mind fractured
I know I must find rest
Oh sleep I beg
Where are you?
My thoughts will not stop
Their nocturnal wandering
Lyrics and melodies dance
With my imagination
As faces framed with
Misty recognition
Parade across my closed eyelids
Poems with rhyme and prose
Fill my head in bits and pieces
Taking me from one moment
Speaking of love to the next despair
I toss and turn trying to find
Comfort in a bed that feels
As if it has turned to stone
I implore my mind
To stop its migratory journey
To unconnected destinations
That I might find relief
With body tired and mind fractured
I know I must find rest
Oh sleep I beg
Where are you?
