Melancholy's Tea

Melancholy
steeps its
tea in tears.
My mind
wishes to sip
from its cup,
but my spirit
urges, rejoice.

I tell you what, I'm always impressed how you carry on with the whole...is analogy the word I'm looking for? (bad writer, not knowing my literary terms) Anyway, you do it so well and beautifully! Seeped in tears, but trying to rejoice. Such hope, Love it!

They say 'mind over matter' but I recommend 'matter over mind' this time. Hope you find something to rejoice in while you tend your foot (?) : )

Sometimes we have to tell our minds to hush so we can listen to the sound of happiness within.

So touching. Definitely better to rejoice.

Susie, this sounds like our political impasse veiled in poetry. I am voting for your spirit next election.

The idea of melancholy steeping is powerful. Like the teabag, it becomes more potent the longer it's in the water, right? Your ending is wonderfully optimistic. Nicely done, Susie! Amy

This is very endearing - struggling through sadness.

Hey, coffee is MUCH more of a "push" off the couch :)

...but I don't mean to make light of grief. We all need to take time for that...
