Mechanical Deflection

Bolted, screwed, and geared
it beats with an artificial thump,
the mechanical medical miracle
to replace the broken heart.

Future distress will be avoided
by its ability to detect and deflect
any inclination to fall in love.

The rusty, creaking replica
of a flesh and beating heart
keeps anger alive and
the calloused damning fate

 Alone.
