I love the build up to the tentative moment of trusting he understands her body language. Of course, he must be wrong because the tone of the poem made me feel the comedy of the situation. I see two characters on stage, playing this out while he steps into a dramatic aside to share his trepidation with the audience or a confidant. And it has a Chekhovian humor too!
