Blessings in Ordinary

Morning arrives in its routine
of aches and grumbles, but I welcome
the sight of a coffee cup sitting in its usual place.

We are weathered, chipped friends
ready to perform  our ritual hand to handle
dance across tile to an oak chair.

There are blessings in ordinary.
I watch the wild life outside my window
with my hands wrapped around the warmth
of familiar, and gather strength from a companion
who never utters a word.

I agree with Esther. That last couple of lines are quite wonderful. I really love the details in this. They really immerse the reader in the moment.

The blessings we find in the seemingly ordinary are the very best of them all, methinks. And, of course, even better with coffee.

It is funny we have favorite mugs to drink our coffee from. I have been retired mny years but still use the one I had in the office there. That is how faithful we both are! I enjoyed your post very much.

"There are blessings in ordinary." Yes, especially these days, we revel in the ordinary, in the midst of so much that is not. I love your mug!!!!!
