Mortal Conundrum

We set our clocks,
bind our throats,
and limit limitless.

The Universe holds countless truths,
but we force feed words
through a pen until divine
is housed in a narrow mind.

A star burns the sky
with the speed of light
while humans race
toward extinction
at the speed of denial.

The conundrum of mortal
is it can demonstrate unity
in a scientific lab spinning above gravity,
but bloodstain earth with death
over divergent philosophies.

The speed of denial... that's the fastest of all... love where the prompt took you.

"A star burns the sky with the speed of light while humans race toward extinction at the speed of denial" .. sigh .. beautifully deep and thought-provoking!❤️
The speed of denial is brilliant.
I, too, particularly like:
'while humans race
toward extinction
at the speed of denial.'

So apt for these times!

I like your speed of denial. Seems as of late we have been seeing a lot of accusations to be denied.

Your commentary is so apt, Susie. Gives me a lot to think about.

Fools of time unleash the dogs of war, fer sure. We are gravity's skidmarks.

All too depressingly true, Susie. Excellent close that sums up the inner questioner's perpetual why without actually saying it.

Nothing moves fastest towards destruction or slowest in the direction of sense like denial. Wonderfully said, Susie.

I like the idea of how our words try to house the Divine in a narrow mind. Not that words are bad.

Very well stated. Humanity can be so stupid even while being brilliant.
