Chill

She is there, pillow deep,
jasmine, lily, nutmeg
scented skin….

With each breath reality
blends with dream,
and his eyes struggle
for truth in his satin sea.

Slowly empty weights his arms.
The chill of gone raises goose bumps
where her perfumed body
had poured sunlight across his chest.

He turns to the nightstand beside his bed.
She always leaves a note….
Gone….He doesn’t like how it feels.

This is soo beautifully ethereal so haunting in tone and image, Susie❤️ especially love; "Slowly empty weights his arms. The chill of gone raises goose bumps where her perfumed body had poured sunlight across his chest."

This is perfect! Love the switch from the romantic to abandoned.

Well merged expressions of romance- the joy of having and pain of losing

Delicious textures in this, and something that doesn't slip down the throat quite as easily, as well. Definitely we are on the same wavelength this week, Susie--thank you for the challenge. These days anything that gets a few words out of muse makes me intensely grateful.

What a romantic opening, so full of promise in the pillow, and then 'The chill of gone' and the note! Stunning!

No one likes how it feels to be left behind. An evocative piece, Susie.

conjures images of a genie in the perfume bottle - nice terse lines that culminate in 'gone'
