Play It Again

Play it again…
the song and dance
of barefoot summers
where tomorrow
didn’t blind the moon.

Somewhere in the
black and white
the music stopped
and my feet were
burdened with shoes.

Play it again…
So I can remember
how it feels to dance
outside the lines.

We always dance to the tune of life, lets sometimes dance to our own tune:)
at first it seems a very happy piece but then at the end it seems rather sad that she is so constrained.

I so adore this poem - especially "the song and dance of barefoot summers where tomorrow didnt blind the moon". And the feet being burdened with shoes. Love this, Susie.

Fantastic, Susie. I remember those summers and, later, the burden of shoes.
Thanks for this.

to dance is to live... even when the music stops... I wonder sometimes if we let ourselves forget the joy and hope we had.. so we stop dancing...
Everything is better outside the lines.

Love it, Susie. Reminded me of some of my other lives.
For this life, my 5th or 6th, my shoes were put on. Additionally I cut my hair shorter, put up my motorcycle, and became a father again.

I wouldn't trade for back then but the memories are GREAT!!!

it ain't summer until the shoes come off. Actually, I'm not really comfortable until they do. I don't even like slippers, really. I live the dancing "outside the lines".
