Ground Into Forgotten

Fallen leaves rattle their grief
under booted feet grinding
them into forgotten.
Glory comes on warm sunbursts
only to surrender to the icy teeth of frost.

There is something very thrilling about those days caught between two seasons. Such an excellent subject for tanka.

Very vivid images just make the seasonal mood more intense. And yay for those Outlander books on the sidebar--one of my very favorite series in fiction.
