Only A Frosted Season

Breathing blue sky in ice
I wander the frozen cavern of chance
searching for reasons.

Answers trail footprints
through my thoughts,
but the winds of circumstance
swallow me in its blizzard.

My quest for why loses its appeal
as I embrace the beauty
of snowflake moments
falling around me.

Each day is unique.
Time never repeats itself.
Winter is only a frosted season
preparing me for the joy of spring.

A very beautiful poem, kiddo. I especially love "I wander the cavern of chance searching for reasons." Me, too! "Winter is only a frosted season" is very lovely.

:)Everyday starts with hope and aspiration and ends with some disappointments and some accomplishments. So, true each day is unique.

What is truly remarkable about this poem is how it offers two in one. After reading it as a whole, I went back and read the first italicized lines to discover the heart of the poem.

I've loved reading the poetry inspired by the ice caves. Every single one has taken me on a journey. This is beautiful, Susie. "snowflake moments" - love love! I know we're gonna have some of those soon and maybe I'll use this as inspiration to embrace the chill. :)

Congrats on "Dirt Road Dreams" - I'll be ordering a copy today.

This entire piece just breathes of hope! I love it, Susie...thank you for writing!
Susie, the uniqueness of life reminds me of the ever-changing snowflakes you mention in your poem. I am ready for winter, and I know it since I didn't shiver once reading this!

Your form, using the first sentence as a jumping-off point, is very effective. Sorry I've been absent of late... back now. Amy
