Scales of Eight

Sow what
you wish to reap.

Tipping the scales of eight
to pad your pockets of power
will only be tolerated for a season.

When Karma tires of your game,
you will discover counterweights
can be a bitch.

Mama Zen at Real Toads has us using the number 8 for inspiration. It could be used in whatever manner we desired. I chose to take a look at the meaning of the number 8 in numerology. I discovered the number is the great Karmic equalizer, a force that just as easily creates as it destroys. Many people tend to only look at its money and power properties and neglect it balances the material and immaterial worlds.(btw ~ my poem contains 38 words)

Oh, very cool! I was hoping someone would hit the numerology angle.

I love that last line!
How I wish that came true in the upper echelons of power.

Oh such a good one! Love that the number is meant to "balance the material and immaterial world." Cool, kiddo.

Only 38 words, but lots of meaning. Good work, Susie.

Fascinating, Susie. It made me think that 8 on its side is the infinity symbol--absolutely love the last line, as well.

I agree with MZ on the angle...I find numerology so interesting! Great poem, Susie.

I do believe in balance being achieved, rights being wronged, destructive forces being neutralized.. if the number 8 can do it, I'm on board.

Yes, I almost went this route, but then I was being lazy and thought 8 words seemed easier :)
I see how the number 8 would be the number of balance, a sideways Omega. Also, this harks back to the Bible about love of money... but the FULL proverb is, "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." So Karma, yes, it is a bitch if you love money more than others (and if you are a deist, more than God). Amy

Nice write. 8 is my favorite number. 88 even better. If you tip an 8 on its side it represents the infinity sign.
