Bone and ash,
Bone and ash,
the moon laughs
at night’s evil dance.
Terror sifts through chains
of image and noise
trying to divine ghost
from human.
Bravery screams its failure
in cries of help, but the wind’s
screeching muffles rescue.
The dead reach for living hands
to join them in a macabre waltz
of life and death and tomb.

Oh honey! This is CHILLINGLY beautiful! :)
Another excellent poem and so beautiful..
I think you got the Halloween spirit going really well here, Susie--love the tomb dancing.
"Bravery screams its failure..." ooh, this is good stuff, Susie. It will keep me out of eerie places for a long, long time.

"Bones and ash" indeed. I wouldn't want to encounter this place. An excellent poem.

Bone and ash"....this poem really sets the mood.

Get me out of here!
Unless, of course, I can watch the dance!

I think you have used personification to great effect in this poem. I loved the chanting lines at the beginning too - they really set the tone for the rest of the poem.
I knew your poem would be great ;D
