Come speak healing.
Paint its path in the sand.
Pain has me between its teeth
tearing through flesh and bone.
Sing your ancient songs
across my spirit to raise
me from the dust I cry in.
I am small in the mountain sky.
My voice barely reaches
the air beyond my lips.
Wind, carry my prayer
to ears who need to hear.
May this blanket I lie on
soon become my healing bed.

whoa. . .susie :) love how you bring out how small and fragile we really are in the bigger picture surrounding us. we'd like to think ourselves immortal; however. . .

Quite lovely Susie, thanks so much for this beautiful composition! And, I really resonated to these lines too:
"Sing your ancient songs across my spirit to raise me from the dust I cry in."
Metta,
Roger ☺
Really a nice job Susie. Love the poetry that this piece helped bring about. Very neat. Thanks
A beautiful/harrowing whisper of a plea that, through simplicity, gives your poem such strength. I felt the spirits listening as I read it; imagined the Shamans guiding you on a journey of healing. Wonderful write.
Very well done, totally in the feel of it.
I like this Susie. It is very spiritual.
Oh, lovely!
Incredible :)
Oh, now this is poetry; this is real prayer. Great writing Ms Clevenger.
Susie...you have such a way with words that is all you...this is just fantastic...and I do hope you're feeling better! Caught your post, but time has been limited...sending light, love and healing thoughts your way!!!
This is a wonderful prayer in the tradition of the Beauty Way. I used that poem as an epigraph to my unpublished poems. It is a powerful notion to lonk beauty, art, mand overall physical well-being. Your poem really captures that spirit beautifully.
I particularly like the last stanza ... meditative and healing!! Happy weekend! :)
... may the blanket you lie on become the healing bed.
This is so beautiful, Susie, and I hope those prayers do help raise you from your healing bed. I especially love "I am so small in the mountain sky."
